The Australian and Queensland governments are looking for a new independent Chair for the Reef 2050 Advisory Committee (RAC). The Committee facilitates engagement with industry and the broader community on strategic matters related to the Great Barrier Reef.
The Committee has a specific focus on the Australian and Queensland governments’ joint Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan.
The Chair leads the Committee and reports on behalf of the members to the Australian Minister for the Environment and Water, and Queensland Minister for the Environment and Great Barrier Reef.
This is a joint appointment by the Australian and Queensland Environment Ministers for a fixed term of five years from January 2024 to January 2029, with the option for extension.
Location is flexible. Committee meetings are held in person and online.
