Small and medium businesses can start preparing applications now for energy efficiency grants valued between $10,000 and $25,000.
Up to $41.2 million in funding will be available in Round 2 of the Energy Efficiency Grants for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises.
Due to the demand on the Business Grants Hub portal, the opening of applications will be staggered over 5 consecutive business days, starting from Thursday 22 February 2024. This will give you ease of access to apply for a grant using the portal.
You must apply in the application round for the state or territory where your grant project will be physically located. Visit the Business Grants Hub portal to find out when applications open for your state or territory.
The grants can fund a range of activities to help reduce pressure on energy bills and lower emissions, including:
- upgrading inefficient technologies, such as replacement of display fridge cabinets with more efficient models, or gas cookers with electric equivalents
- improving space and water heating systems
- conducting energy audits
- installing energy monitoring systems.
Grant funding is distributed between the states and territories based on the distribution of small and medium businesses across the country. As there is dedicated funding amount for each state or territory, you will only be competing against others in the jurisdiction you are applying for.
Grants will be awarded to eligible applicants in order of application receipt in each state and territory. Applications may close early if all allocated funds for Round 2 are exhausted.
If you applied in Round 1 and did not receive funding, we encourage you to consider reapplying for Round 2.
Eligibility requirements have changed since Round 1, so please check the Round 2 grant guidelines.
We encourage businesses to prepare before Round 2 opens—you can read the grant guidelines and start preparing your application now on the Business Grants Hub portal.
