Each year our staff take part in the Australian public service (APS) employee census. All staff across the APS were able to complete this survey.
We release our census results to be more transparent and accountable.
What we do with the results
We support our people to deliver effective and efficient public services.
The census allows staff to have their say on important workforce issues. This includes:
- job satisfaction
- employee engagement
- performance management
- leadership
- general impressions of the Australian Public Service
We use census results to inform strategies, policies, and evaluate initiatives.
The 2023 APS employee census was our first as a new agency. We are committed to making sure our staff views are heard and actioned.
Privacy
Census reporting is subject to strict privacy rules.

Action Plan
The action plan is a statement about what we want to achieve, created in a deliberative, consultative and transparent way.
We have committed to actions in key focus areas in our 2023 Action Plan which will support us in making the department the best place to work.
