About the document
The Panel for the Independent Review of Australian Carbon Credit Units sought independent analysis and advice to inform its consideration of the integrity of the human induced regeneration, avoided deforestation, landfill gas, and carbon capture and storage methods for generating Australian Carbon Credit Units. It commissioned the Australian Academy of Science to provide a rapid assessment of these methods. The report synthesises the science underpinning each method and assesses their strengths and limitations. The report found that the four methods have different strengths and limitations in terms of how they respond to the offset integrity standards in the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Act 2011.
