This report outlines the Australian Government's work with industry in exploring blue carbon opportunities under the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF).
This engagement, together with an assessment of activities against the ERF's integrity requirements, found that reintroduction of tidal flow to restore mangrove and tidal marsh ecosystems is currently the most promising blue carbon activity.
Blue Carbon Method Working Group
In collaboration with industry, our department has established a Blue Carbon Method Working Group. The group includes blue carbon scientists and researchers, state governments, carbon project developers and others with interest or expertise in blue carbon.
The Working Group is currently developing an ERF method for the reintroduction of tidal flow in blue carbon ecosystems. We encourage anyone interested in joining the Working Group to email us.
