A community solar bank is a shared solar system within a community that helps households who can’t install their own rooftop solar system to share in the benefits of renewable energy. Sharing solar is a great solution for people who rent or live in apartments and people who simply can’t afford to install their own system.
The Government is co-investing $100 million to deploy shared solar across the country – providing cheaper electricity for more than 25,000 households, creating a more equitable electricity system and reducing emissions.
The Government is partnering with State and Territory governments to deliver the program over the next two years.
Projects
The Government is providing $1.8m in matched funding to expand the territory’s Sustainable Household Scheme to benefit apartment tenants and neighbouring residents. The scheme will incentivise the rollout of rooftop solar with rebates and concessional loans available to body corporates.
Projects in other states and territories will be announced in coming months.
