Gender equality in the energy sector is emerging as an international priority, with an identified need for gender responsive policy actions and support for women in leadership roles across the clean energy sector.
The Australian Government is committed to achieving gender equality in the energy sector, through committing to equal pay, equal leadership and equal opportunities for women in the clean energy sector by 2030.
Australia is one of the 13 member countries who have joined the Equality in Energy Transitions Initiative (Equality Initiative). The Equality Initiative is a collaboration between the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) and the International Energy Agency (IEA), with the aim of advancing the transition to a low carbon economy through advancing women’s participation in clean energy and closing the gender gap in the energy sector.
