Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee 2022 - Photo of Queen Elizabeth

Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee 2022

The Australian Government is supporting a range of national and community events in 2022 to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and to honour her life’s achievements. These events recognise her dedicated service to the United Kingdom, the Realms, Australia, and the broader Commonwealth over the last 70 years.

Her Majesty reached the Platinum Jubilee milestone in June 2022 and passed away on 8 September 2022. At this time of mourning, community-based tree planting and commemorative events funded through the Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program will proceed as planned in honour of The Queen and her 70 years of service as Australia’s Head of State.

Investing in the significant occasion of Her Majesty’s Jubilee through community tree planting events across Australia

The Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program is supporting eligible groups and organisations to honour The Queen and the legacy of her achievements during the year of her Jubilee through community-based commemorative tree planting events. Planting regionally-appropriate species that enhance the tree canopy will also leave a legacy of its own—in the form of trees flourishing across the nation for Australians to enjoy into the future.

The program provides each federal electorate up to $100,000 in grants for up to 10 projects nominated by the local federal member of parliament, in consultation with their local community. Grants range from $2,500 to $20,000 per project. Projects align with the objective, expected outcomes and eligibility requirements of the program.

The program complements other initiatives taking place in the United Kingdom and across the Commonwealth to mark the Jubilee of The Queen, such as the United Kingdom’s Plant a Tree for the Jubilee initiative.

Successful projects

The Australian Government approved projects across Australia to support community-based commemorative tree planting events to enhance local environments and community well-being.

In accordance with whole-of-government requirements, details of funded projects are available at GrantConnect. A list of the funded projects is also provided on this website for information.

The location and details of completed commemorative and tree planting events across Australia will be added to the program’s interactive map as the projects are implemented. You are encouraged to regularly visit this site to explore how different communities have marked the Jubilee of The Queen and honoured her.

The program is being delivered by the Business Grants Hub on behalf of the department. Detailed information on the program, such as the program guidelines can be found on the Business Grants Hub website.
