About the nomination and assessment
The Banksia Woodlands of the Swan Coastal Plain ecological community was placed on the 2012 Finalised Priority Assessment List (FPAL) by the Commonwealth Environment Minister. This FPAL item is currently being assessed by the Threatened Species Scientific Committee (the Committee) as a potentially threatened ecological community under Australia's national environmental law, the EPBC Act.
During the assessment process a technical workshop was held in June 2014 and subsequent technical advice has been received. This information has been incorporated into the draft description and location map presented here for consultation. The assessment is due for completion by 31 July 2016.
The Committee sought the views of experts, stakeholders and the general public on the draft Description for the ecological community, as provided, and whether it meets criteria for ‘Endangered', or some other category, under the EPBC Act.
