Comment on Listing Assessments
About the nomination and assessment
Each year on behalf of the Threatened Species Scientific Committee, the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water invites public nominations for items that merit listing as threatened under national environment law. The “Empodisma peatlands of southwestern Australia” was nominated for listing as a threatened ecological community and prioritised for assessment in 2019.
The Committee’s assessment and advice to the Minister is due by 30 April 2023.
Proposed Conservation Status: Endangered
Distribution: South west Western Australia
Invitation to comment
You are invited to provide your views on the assessment of and draft Conservation Advice for the Empodisma peatlands of southwestern Australia.
The ecological community is proposed for inclusion in the Endangered category, on the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) list of threatened ecological communities.
The Committee particularly seeks comments on whether the nominated item is eligible for listing and whether the proposed conservation status is appropriate. Any other relevant comments and information about the ecological community or draft Conservation Advice document is also invited.
