Comment on listing assessment
Invitation to comment
You are invited to provide your views and supporting reasons in relation to the eligibility of 4 species assessed by the New South Wales Government using the Common Assessment Method for inclusion on the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) threatened species list:
- Plinthanthesis rodwayi (Budawangs Wallaby-grass) (PDF - 939.61 KB) – proposed up-listing from Vulnerable to Critically Endangered
- Galaxias tantangara (Stocky Galaxias) (PDF - 320.59 KB) – proposed listing as Critically Endangered
- Pimelea cremnophila (PDF - 435.87 KB) – proposed listing as Critically Endangered
- Prostanthera staurophylla (PDF - 411.25 KB) – proposed up-listing from Vulnerable to Critically Endangered
- the necessary conservation actions for the above species.
Anyone may nominate a native species, ecological community or key threatening process for listing, transfer to a new category, or deletion from the threatened species list under the EPBC Act. The Threatened Species Scientific Committee (the Committee) undertakes the assessment of species to determine eligibility for inclusion on the list of threatened species and provides its recommendation to the Australian Government Minister for the Environment.
Please note that these assessments were prepared prior to the 2019/20 bushfires which affected many species across Australia. While the impacts on these species are yet to be fully understood, the Committee has determined that the proposed threat category is unlikely to change as a result of these events. The Committee is therefore proceeding with the assessment process under theEPBC Act, including public consultation and advice to the Minister for the Environment on the inclusion of these species in an appropriate threat category on the national list of threatened species. The Committee will review the Conservation Advice for these species once further information on bushfire impacts and appropriate recovery actions becomes available.
