Extensions to EPBC Act listing assessment and decision timeframes

The Minister has extended the listing decision timeframe on the following items

Erythroxylum sp. Cholmondely Creek (J.R. Clarkson 9367) (Northern Territory population)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Galaxias aequipinnis (East Gippsland Galaxias)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Galaxias brevissimus (Short-tail Galaxias)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Galaxias gunaikurnai (Shaw Galaxias) 

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Galaxias lanceolatus (Tapered Galaxias)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Galaxias longifundus (West Gippsland Galaxias)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Galaxias mcdowalli (McDowall’s Galaxias)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Galaxias mungadhan (Dargo Galaxias)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Galaxias sp. nov. ‘Yalmy’ (Yalmy Galaxias)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Galaxias supremus

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Galaxias terenasus (Roundsnout Galaxias)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Lissolepis coventryi (Swamp Skink, Eastern Mourning Skink)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Mordacia praecox (Non-parasitic Lamprey, Precocious Lamprey)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Phyllurus kabikabi (Oak-view leaf-tailed gecko)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Pseudemoia cryodroma (Alpine bog skink)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe to include these species in the list of threatened species until 27 March 2023 to allow for the Minister’s listing decision to be registered and brought into legal effect.

Sphyrna lewini (Scalloped Hammerhead)

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe for consideration of this listing assessment from 9 August 2022 to 1 December 2022 to allow the Threatened Species Scientific Committee to review new information that has become available, and to provide updated advice on the basis of this information.

Under subsection 194Q(4) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, has extended the timeframe for consideration of this listing assessment from 1 December 2022 to 1 June 2023, to allow the Threatened Species Scientific Committee to review new information on the species’ conservation status in Queensland and proposed revised state fishing management arrangements, and to provide updated advice.


Extensions to EPBC Act listing assessment timeframes

Acacia baueri subsp. aspera

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable further collaboration with New South Wales to resolve taxonomic issues and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Acacia blayana

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable further sufficient time for collection of post-bushfire survey data in collaboration with New South Wales and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Acacia castorum (Peak Range Wattle)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 October 2022 to enable further collaboration with Queensland and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

A further extension to the assessment timeframe for this species has been approved from 30 October 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable sufficient time for further collaboration Queensland and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Acacia constablei (Narrabarba Wattle)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable sufficient time for collection of post-bushfire survey data in further collaboration with New South Wales and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Acacia courtii (Northern Brother Wattle)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable sufficient time for collaboration with New South Wales and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Acacia gordonii

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable sufficient time for collection of post-bushfire survey data in collaboration with New South Wales and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Acacia lanigera var. gracilipes

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable sufficient time for collection of post-bushfire survey data, further collaboration with range states and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Acrodipsas illidgei (Illidge's Ant-blue, Mangrove Ant-blue)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable further collaboration with Queensland and New South Wales and for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Andersonia axilliflora (Giant Andersonia)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable sufficient time for collection of post-bushfire survey data in collaboration with Western Australia and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Anoxypristis cuspidata (narrow sawfish)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 October 2022 to 30 October 2023 to enable sufficient time for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Ardenna grisea (sooty shearwater)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 October 2022 to 30 October 2023 to enable sufficient time for further consultation and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Arenaria interpres (ruddy turnstone)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 October 2022 to 30 October 2023 to allow time to incorporate new data, and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Asperula tetraphylla (Broad-leaf Woodruff)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 October 2022 to enable sufficient time for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

A further extension to the assessment timeframe for this species has been approved from 30 October 2022 to 30 October 2023 to enable sufficient time for further collaboration with South Australia and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Astrotricha sp. (Wingan Inlet J.A.Jeanes 2268) (Wingan Star-hair)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 October 2022 enable further collaboration with Victoria on the assessment through the Common Assessment Method and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

A further extension to the assessment timeframe for this species has been approved from 30 October 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable sufficient time for further collaboration Victoria and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Bertya mollissima

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable sufficient time for collection of post-bushfire survey data in collaboration with New South Wales and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Bidyanus bidyanus (Silver Perch)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 March 2021 to 30 October 2021 to enable further collaboration with range states through the Common Assessment Method. A further extension has been approved from 30 October 2021 to 30 April 2022 to enable further collaboration with range states through the Common Assessment Method and to allow for sufficient time to finalise the assessment.

A further extension has been approved from 30 April 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable further collaboration with range states through the Common Assessment Method to resolve technical points relating to the assessment.

Boronia anemonifolia subsp. wadbilligensis

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 April 2023 to enable sufficient time for collection of post-bushfire survey data in collaboration with New South Wales and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Boronia deanei (Deane's Boronia)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 April 2022 to 30 October 2022 to enable sufficient time for assessment of two subspecies, public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

A further extension to the assessment timeframe for this species has been approved from 30 October 2022 to 30 October 2023 to allow for two subspecies assessments to be completed, further consultation with the state/territories and allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Calidris acuminata (sharp-tailed sandpiper)

The assessment timeframe for this species has been extended from 30 October 2022 to 30 October 2023 to allow time to incorporate new data, and to allow for public consultation to be undertaken and to finalise the assessment.

Calidris canutus (red knot)
