About this fact sheet
On 22 January 2016, the Minister for the Environment, the Hon Greg Hunt MP, announced the remaining eight mammals under the Threatened Species Strategy’s 20 mammals by 2020 target.
They were identified by the Office of the Threatened Species Commissioner in response to expert input and consultation with the scientific community, and through consideration against the Principles for Prioritisation in the Threatened Species Strategy.
