The Green Army Program was a hands-on, practical environmental action program that supported local environment and heritage conservation projects across Australia. The Program delivered over 1,000 projects across Australia and engaged with over 11,000 young Australian’s as participants. The Green Army Program closed on 30 June 2018.

Community organisations, Landcare groups, natural resource management organisations, environment groups, Indigenous organisations, local councils and others host Green Army projects.

The Green Army Evaluation evaluates the environmental outcomes of the Green Army Program, along with the complementary social and economic outcomes, based on the effectiveness and efficiency of the Program against its four strategic objectives.
The Australian Government engaged five Service Providers to help deliver the program on the ground.
