About the document
As the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry (RAC) in Australia moves towards the use of lower GWP refrigerants there is a growing need for technicians, consumers and work health and safety agencies across all jurisdictions to ensure they understand how to use these refrigerants safely.
To better understand the current and future risk landscape for WHS in the industry a review of the findings of the 2012 WHS report and the response by industry was commissioned by the Department of the Environment. Industry, government and WHS regulators across all jurisdictions were consulted.
The 2015 Report provides a detailed analysis of the WHS issues facing Australia’s RAC industry now and in the future. It provides key findings that identify roles and responsibilities for industry, state and territory regulators and the Commonwealth to effectively address these issues.
The report contains the views of an independent consultant. The Commonwealth has published the report to ensure that stakeholders have access to all information regarding potential risks and safety considerations.
