The Department commissioned this report to inform hazardous waste policy consistent with the National Waste Policy: Less Waste, Resources. It provides an extension to the report, Improving Australia's reporting on hazardous waste under the Basel Convention.
The key outputs of this study are:
- A snapshot of national waste generation (arisings) in Australia, by waste group for each jurisdiction, together with an analysis of 23 waste groups in detail, describing the waste, its major sources, generation, historical trends, fate and analysis.
- Analysis and commentary on this data with key insights and recommendations.
