The Assessment of hazardous waste infrastructure needs and capacities in Australia 2022 was commissioned by the Australian Government’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the Department) and prepared by Blue Environment and Ascend Waste and Environment. Building on the initial 2015 and subsequent 2019 editions, this report provides:
- projections of hazardous waste arisings and fates over the coming 20 years
- an estimate of Australia’s current hazardous waste infrastructure capacity, its distribution and expected future, compiled in consultation with the industry
- an assessment of the extent to which current infrastructure meets future needs, considering the nature and locations of particular infrastructure.
