We have completed a compliance audit (audit) on 24 holders who were granted waste export licences under the Recycling and Waste Reduction Act 2020 (the Act).
The objective of the audit was to assess selected exports of regulated waste and the waste export licence holders’ compliance with the recordkeeping obligations under section 142 of the Act. We tested whether each licence holder held sufficient and accurate documentation to support the selected export. All participating licence holders were found to be compliant, however the audit has identified licence holders have room for improvement in ensuring:
Consistent Information
You are responsible for all information used during the export of regulated waste.
When exporting make sure you use the same correct:
- AHECC (HS code)
- Consignee
- Goods Description
- Value
- Quantity
WELD information = EDN information = Your documentation, e.g.
- Purchase Order
- Seaway Bill
- Packing list
- Invoice
Photos
For every consignment, take and keep photos of the following, (even if you don’t pack them):
- the regulated waste material packed as each layer of the shipping container is packed
- the consignment when it is fully packed for export, including the container identification number.
The photos must be:
- clear
- show the regulated waste material
- be date and time stamped
- JPEG format is recommended
Translations
All documents must be provided in English or be translated into English by a translator accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters.
