The Australian Government is supporting the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) address the waste from vehicles which reach their end of life in Australia.
The problem
Each year over 700,000 vehicles reach their end of life in Australia with hundreds of thousands of tonnes of valuable resources from these vehicles ending up in landfill.
The solution
The FCAI will work with key players across the motor vehicle supply chain, to design and develop Australia’s first comprehensive vehicle stewardship scheme.
The FCAI will also work in partnership with the Motor Trades Association of Australia to engage key players across the entire vehicle lifecycle – from import and sales, to repair and disposal.
The Australian Government is supporting this project with a grant of $1 million through the National Product Stewardship Investment Fund.
When
The project will be completed by March 2023.
