The Australian Government is supporting Tyre Stewardship Australia to recycle used mining, agriculture and aviation tyres, rubber tracks and conveyor belts.
The problem
Each year, over 120,000 tonnes of mining, agriculture and aviation tyres reach end of life, with only 11% being recovered. It’s estimated an additional 80,000 tonnes of related products are not being sustainably managed each year.
The solution
Tyre Stewardship Australia’s project will provide a national framework for increased recycling of mining, agriculture and aviation tyres, rubber tracks and conveyor belts.
The Australian Government is providing a grant of $987,717 for the project through the National Product Stewardship Investment Fund.
When
Tyre Stewardship Australia’s project will commence from August 2021.
