About the Guide
Under the National Waste Policy Action Plan the Government has committed to significantly increase the amount of recycled content it uses. Buying goods made from recycled materials reduces the amount of waste resources sent to landfill, conserves our precious natural resources and creates jobs.
Recognising the Australian Government’s commitment to sustainable procurement practices, the Commonwealth Procurement Rules require entities to consider the Sustainable Procurement Guide where there is opportunity for sustainability or use of recycled content.
The Sustainable Procurement Guide provides practical assistance on how to consider environmental sustainability and incorporate the use of recycled content into your procurement. The guide contains steps, tools, case studies as well as a list of eco-labels, standards, certifications and product stewardship schemes to assist with your procurement.
