About this document

The Department commissioned a study to collect and compile hazardous waste data for developing:

  • Australia’s report to the Basel Secretariat for 2016
  • Hazardous Waste in Australia 2017, a report providing an authoritative snapshot of hazardous waste generation, sources and management in Australia for 2014-15.

The study was carried out consistent with the content of the Australian Hazardous Waste Data and Reporting Standard (Test Version 2). The standard was tested by recording, considering and reporting the difficulties and successes in applying the standard in collecting, compiling and reporting hazardous waste data.

This document reports the outcomes of testing the standard.
