Consultation process - Review of the Plan
The Australian and Queensland governments invited Australians to have their say on the draft updated Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan (the Plan) during a six-week public consultation period that closed on Wednesday 30 September 2020.
This consultation was part of the first five yearly comprehensive review to ensure the Plan continues to focus on key threats and actions to support the health and resilience of the Great Barrier Reef.

Extensive consultation on the original Plan was undertaken from 15 September to 27 October 2014 with input from key organisations, the public and community groups. A public consultation report provides a summary of the key issues raised and the changes made to the plan in response to them.
Preliminary public consultation was undertaken on the plan between 1 November 2013 and 31 January 2014 as part of the Australian and Queensland governments’ comprehensive strategic assessment process.
