The Australian National Botanic Gardens is an authoritative source of information on Australian plants, ranging from how to grow them to their correct scientific names. This information is held in the Integrated Biodiversity Information System (IBIS) and delivered online.
IBIS links data from:
- Australian National Botanic Gardens – records of living plants in the Gardens, propagation records and holdings of the National Seed Bank;
- Australian National Herbarium Specimen Data – records of herbarium specimens, including those that voucher the Gardens’ living collection;
- Australian Plant Image Index – the national collection of photographs and illustrations of Australia's flora, and other images related to the Gardens; and
- Australian Plant Name Index and Australian Plant Census – an index of all scientific names applied to Australian plants and a national list of accepted names.
IBIS also supports national and international projects, including the Atlas of Living Australia and the International Plant Name Index.
