This digital platform integrates a wide range of botanical information from many sources, such as nomenclature, distribution maps, images, biodiversity data, and identification keys.

For the first time, the Flora of Australia transitions from static taxonomic treatments to an innovative and dynamic online platform. This move has made the information more accessible and more user-friendly, with easier navigation through the classification, and more rapid updates.

Features includes:

  • Existing treatments from past Flora of Australia volumes
  • New family and species profiles
  • Search and browse circa 14 000 taxon profiles
  • Dynamically links to other Australian bioinformatics resources
  • Interactive keys and flora spatial subsetting
 
ABRS Flora online

Flora of Australia Online

The Flora of Australia Online database is no longer being updated. The Flora of Australia is now being delivered on a new interactive web platform available at:

This is a free online public enquiry database that provides taxonomic and biological information. The database is derived from the published volumes of the Flora of Australia, of which 17 volumes are currently online.

    Data covers the six Australian States, the Northern Territory, the Australian Capital Territory and immediate offshore islands
  • Flora of Australia Online Norfolk and Lord Howe Islands
    Data covers Norfolk Island and Lord Howe Island and the associated islets of the Admiralty Group, Balls Pyramid, Blackburn (Rabbit) Island, Mutton Bird Island, Nepean Island and Philip Island
  • Flora of Australia Online Oceanic Islands excluding Norfolk and Lord Howe Islands
    Data covers Ashmore Reef, Cartier Island, Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Coral Sea Islands Territory, Heard Island, Macquarie Island and McDonald Island
