This search allows you to look for information on all birds and bats for which the ABBBS database contains banding and recovery data. You can find information on a particular species or sets of species.
Searching tips
- If you are unsure of the scientific or common name of the species, enter part of the name in the Free Text Search field (English only). Both the common and scientific names in the database will be searched.
- If you know the scientific name of the species, enter the genus and species names separated by a space in the Scientific Name field. To obtain a list of all the species in a genus, enter only the genus.
- To obtain a list of all species in a family, pick the family from the Family selection list (listed in alphabetic order).
For example, to find all penguins, you could enter penguin (without the s) in the Free Text Search field. Or, you could select "SPHENISCIDAE (Penguins)" from the Family list.
To find the King Penguin, you could enter King Penguin (or king penguin) in the Free Text Search field or Aptenodytes patagonicus in the Scientific Name field.
