Namoi River 2018-19
The Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder agreed to deliver environmental water to the lower Namoi River between November and December 2018, to protect the ecological health and resilience of aquatic ecosystems in the catchment. In particular, environmental water will be delivered to reconnect and maintain refuge pools, and to support native fish communities.

Namoi River watering event update 4
The delivery of water for the environment downstream of Gunidgera Weir commenced on 9 November 2018. The delivery of Commonwealth environmental water finished in mid-December, with a total of 5,500 ML being delivered. NSW added additional water, and the flow made it to Walgett in mid-January. This water has helped to improve water quality, reconnected pools, and improved the chances of native fish surviving the ongoing dry conditions.

Namoi River watering event update 3
The delivery of water for the environment downstream of Gunidgera Weir commenced on 9 November 2018. The river had ceased to flow since August. This flow reached Bugilbone on 22 November, improving survival prospects for native fish for about 100 km of river so far.

Namoi River watering event update 2
The delivery of water for the environment downstream of Gunidgera Weir commenced on 9 November 2018. The flow is making its way down the lower Namoi River downstream of Wee Waa, replenishing and connecting refuge pools, some of which are home to endangered fish such as Murray cod and silver perch.
