The Hattah Lakes are in north-west Victoria. It is part of the broader, internationally significant Hattah-Kulkyne Lakes site, listed under the Ramsar Convention.
Watering at this site aimed to avoid irretrievable loss of iconic plant and wildlife and help to maintain the health of severely stressed river red gums and provide important drought refuge for waterbirds. Other wetland dependent species will also benefit including turtles and frogs.
