Lindsay Island is located on the Victorian and South Australian border. It is part of the Chowilla Floodplain and Lindsay-Wallpolla Islands Living Murray icon site.
Lindsay Island contains large areas of river red gum, black box woodland and diverse wetland habitats.
In autumn and spring 2009, the site received environmental water. Watering helped to maintain the river red gums and understorey vegetation which are threatened by depletion of soil moisture and underlying saline groundwater. These threats impact on a diverse range of waterbirds, fish, frogs and turtles.
Victoria managed the watering at the site. This includes monitoring of the ecological responses and providing information to the Commonwealth.
