Paiwalla Wetland is near Murray Bridge in South Australia and is listed in the Directory of Important Wetlands of Australia. Paiwalla contains rare and nationally threatened species and is frequented by significant populations of migratory waterbirds.
The wetland is owned and managed by the Wetland Habitats Trust - a local community group. Over the past 10 years the Trust has restored the former dairy property to wetlands as well as controlling non-native species (such as foxes and rabbits) and constructing fences, bird hides and pathways.
In March 2009, environmental water was delivered to the site, with water also allocated in June 2009. Watering of this site will help maintain the aquatic habitat and avoid threats from salinity and decline in water quality.
