About this document

The CEWH Strategic Plan 2026–30 shows how we will deliver our vision of Healthy rivers for healthy communities – valuing every drop. It shows how we will protect and restore the resilience of Australia’s rivers and wetlands. The plan outlines our tasks and activities for 2026–30, aligned with our strategic pillars:

  • optimise management of Commonwealth environmental holdings
  • harness science and knowledge
  • grow our partnerships.

Our management of Commonwealth environmental water has matured since our first use of water in March 2009. We will reach our goal through the innovative management of the Commonwealth’s portfolio of water for the environment in future.

This plan will be updated, in response to emerging opportunities.
