Macquarie River Valley – Update 2 – April 2024

Commonwealth and NSW water for the environment was delivered in spring 2023. This water inundated key areas of the Macquarie Marshes. It also provided native fish the chance to move and breed in the Macquarie / Wambuul River. More water is being delivered in autumn, to give young native fish an opportunity to disperse and access food and habitat.

Macquarie River Valley – Update 1 – September 2023

Following two wet years in the Macquarie Valley, conditions are drying. Commonwealth and NSW water for the environment is being delivered to build a healthy ecosystem for native fish populations and wetlands of the Macquarie River / Wambuul and Macquarie Marshes. This will help plants and animals to survive the next drought.
