About this document

The Water Management Plan 2022-23 informs decisions made by the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder on when and where to deliver available water to benefit the environment of the Murray-Darling Basin.

The Plan can be downloaded in its entirety, or as individual chapters:

  • Chapter 1: An introductory chapter on how we plan and make decisions to use water for the environment.
  • Chapter 2: An overview of how we will manage Commonwealth water holdings in the Murray-Darling Basin in 2022-23, covering First Nations advice, environmental priorities, water availability and delivery, as well as plans for carryover, transfers and trade.
  • Chapters 3-14: Scope, for each river valley in the Basin, environmental objectives, recent conditions, supply, demand, priorities and monitoring outcomes/lessons learned.
