Samsara Eco: Recycling plastic over and over
Samsara Eco is tackling plastic waste with a new way to recycle. It uses enzymes to break down plastics into their building blocks. Traditional recycling can make plastic weaker over time. This process allows plastic to be reused many times without losing its strength or quality.
Working with Lululemon
Samsara Eco started in Australia in 2021. It can recycle PET and nylon 6,6, which are two types of plastics often used in clothing and packaging. In early 2024, Samsara teamed up with global brand Lululemon to release the first clothes made from endlessly recycled nylon and polyester. The following year, it announced a 10-year offtake agreement with lululemon to supply approximately 20% of its overall fibre portfolio.
Growing the circular economy
In September 2025, Samsara Eco opened a new site in Jerrabomberra, NSW. This facility uses AI-designed enzymes and a water-based process that avoids harmful chemicals and supports low-carbon manufacturing.
Supporting Australia’s circular economy goals
By keeping materials in use and designing out waste, Samsara Eco supports Australia’s Circular Economy Framework. This includes better recycling, smarter design and industry-led innovation.
