National waste and resource recovery reporting

Last updated: 06 March 2025

Data current as of financial year 2022-23.

The National Waste and Resource Recovery Reporting provides a summary of waste and resource recovery in Australia for the financial year 2022–23. It includes data on waste generation, source streams, waste categories and management types. Trend data is included back to 2016–17.

This report was prepared based on analysis by Australian environmental consultants Blue Environment on commission to the Australian Government’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). We are committed to preparing national data for waste and resource recovery that is timely and accessible.

The report is now available in a web-based format which has been streamlined and organised into modular sections. Interactive data viewers are available throughout the webpages. They allow users to filter and view the data in a range of ways including by jurisdiction, source stream and waste category. Subsets of the data are available under each data viewer to download.
