Australia and the Republic of Korea are working together to grow our clean energy industries. Both countries have agreed to a new Green Economy Partnership Arrangement on Climate and Energy.

Minister Chris Bowen and his Korean counterpart, Minister Ahn Dukgeun signed the partnership on Friday 20 December 2024.

The partnership will boost climate change and energy cooperation between Australia and Korea. This leads to more opportunities for our renewable energy sector. This provides new industries, jobs and opportunities for Australia. The partnership focuses on areas such as:

  • renewable hydrogen
  • critical minerals
  • green metals.

Australia and Korea see climate change as a significant global challenge. We are committed to reaching net zero emissions by 2050. Reaching net zero will mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Managing climate change and energy security is a shared challenge. It requires collaboration with key international partners, including Korea.
