Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC) is a standard classification developed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics for use in Australia and New Zealand for the analysis of industry statistics. More information on ANZSIC
In addition, you can search the ANZSIC by keyword on the ABS website to find ANZSIC codes and their activity descriptions.
The ANZSIC Classification has four levels. For example "Manufacturing" (ANZSIC Code C)
- includes "Fabricated Metal Product Manufacturing" (ANZSIC code 22)
- which includes "Metal Container Manufacturing" (ANZSIC code 223)
- which includes "Boiler, Tank and Other Heavy Gauge Metal Container Manufacturing" (ANZSIC code 2231).
Facilities which have activities associated with one or more of the subset of ANZSIC codes for NPI reporting are required to report on their emissions and transfers if they have tripped one or more of the reporting thresholds.
All NPI reporting facilities are assigned an ANZSIC code at the most detailed (4 digit level) to describe the kind of activity they undertake.
