The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) provides that the minister may, by legislative instrument, amend the Live Import List.
On 25 May 2021 the then minister refused to amend the Live Import List to include the red-bellied tamarin (Saguinus labiatus), and on 10 May 2021 refused to amend the Live Import List to include the bat-eared fox (Otocyon megalotis).
On 28 September 2022 the Minister for Environment and Water decided to conduct a review of the above decisions under section 303EJ of the EPBC Act.
How can I get involved
The department invites your comments and any additional information relevant to the review of the decision not to list the red-bellied tamarin (Saguinus labiatus) and the bat-eared fox (Otocyon megalotis).
The public comment period is open for 20 business days, closing on 20 June 2023.
